0:20 Alright, welcome back to the Daily Blade. 0:22 This whole week we're gonna study uh Philippians chapter 2, verses 12 through 16. 0:27 Uh before I dive right in, I just gotta give a shout out to one of the five percenters, my wife, Gretchen, who led us a couple weeks ago, a few weeks ago. 0:34 She killed it. 0:35 Thanks for all the positive comments and stuff. 0:37 You guys were so encouraging to her. 0:40 I appreciate it. 0:40 She appreciates it. 0:42 I'll talk to Kyle, maybe we'll get her back. 0:44 Hey, Philippians chapter 2, verses 12 to 16. 0:46 I want to read it. 0:47 Uh I'll probably read it every day so that we can become familiar with it. 0:50 I think that's very important. 0:52 God's word says this. 0:54 Therefore, this is Paul writing to the church of Philippi, by the way. 0:56 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence, but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 1:08 For it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure. 1:13 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor 1:34 in vain. 1:35 We're going to dive into just verses twelve and thirteen. 1:39 Paul says, Therefore, this is connecting to what I did the last time I was on here, that now that you are unified in Christ, now that you have learned that we are to do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, now that we have the same mind as that of Christ Jesus, that's what therefore it is, since you know that, 1:57 my beloved. 1:58 This is a title the New Testament often uses to describe believers in Jesus. 2:03 It's an incredible title, because the reality is that if we could be loved, then we would be loving people. 2:11 He says, My beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence, but much more in my absence. 2:20 What Paul is talking about is he's saying, All right, Church of Philippi, may you be men and women of integrity. 2:27 Integrity is what you do when no one is looking. 2:30 Integrity, the root word is integer, that you do not have a compartmentalized life. 2:35 You don't have a church life and a work life and an online life and a social life. 2:39 You just have one and only life. 2:42 And may you have that one and only life be a life that walks in obedience according to the word of Christ. 2:50 But the reality is, Paul says, I know you've done it in my presence, but how about do it in my absence? 2:56 Like when you are alone, make sure that you're living the same way as you do in my presence. 3:01 But the reality is that if you are in Christ Jesus, you are never alone. 3:06 That God's not watching over you about to bust you, but the Spirit of God is living within you, therefore you are never ever alone. 3:12 You may feel feelings of loneliness that just does not line up with reality because God is with you. 3:19 And that our obedience is not to please man, but our obedience is rooted in the reality that Christ was obedient and the Spirit of Christ lives in us. 3:30 That God the Father has been pleased because of Christ's substitutionary atoning sacrifice for you. 3:37 So you're not obeying so that God will be pleased with you. 3:41 He is pleased the moment you put your faith in Jesus. 3:44 And if we are in Christ, then we should walk in the ways of Christ. 3:48 Then he says, a verse that gets misinterpreted all the time work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 3:55 He does not say work out for your salvation. 3:59 That's not what he says. 4:00 He's not saying that you work out your salvation like a math problem, and if you get this thing right, then you will stand righteous before the king. 4:08 That's not what it means at all. 4:10 What he's saying is take what is on the inside of you and what is on the inside of you, according to Ephesians chapter 1, verses 13 and 14, is that when you heard the word of truth, when you heard the gospel, and you believed, you put your faith in Christ, then God put inside of you as a deposit, Ephesians says a guarantee 4:29 of the hope of glory that one day you will attain. 4:32 That when he says, work out your salvation, take that salvation that was given to you as a gift from Christ that is on the inside of you, and begin to work it to the outside of you. 4:44 So you take the Spirit of Christ in you, and through your works, you put them on display for the entire world. 4:52 In fact, Jesus is gonna say to his disciples, If you love me, then obey my commandments. 4:58 He does not say, If you obey my commandments, then I will love you. 5:02 He says that if you love me, if you know me, then you trust me, and if you trust me, you'll do what I say. 5:09 In fact, even in the Great Commission, Jesus is gonna say, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given unto me. 5:15 Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. 5:28 You see, our obedience is not so that we will be saved, but saved people strive to live in obedience because we have put our trust in Christ and we know that his ways are better than our ways. 5:39 Therefore, that is how we are to work our salvation, which is in us to the outside of us, to put on display for a watching world that Christ is our King. 5:49 May it be so with you.
